IFMS: a Sharia-compliant finance marketplace on Liferay DXP 7.4 and Spring Boot

Clients looking for Sharia-compliant financial services in Singapore and the broader ASEAN region had no streamlined digital channel to discover, evaluate and engage certified providers. The market was fragmented and relied on manual referrals and physical meetings — days of friction before a client and a provider even spoke, which limited how fast the market could grow.

IFMS needed to be a two-sided marketplace: providers verified and presented credibly, clients matched to them on the basis of their actual financial requirements, and every service request tracked through a defined lifecycle. It also had to be built to a quality bar suited to finance, with environments and automation that let it be released safely. ATS built it on Liferay DXP with Spring Boot services.

The platform runs on Liferay DXP 7.4 (Update 80) with Java 11. Custom modules — matching, login, review and rating — are built with Gradle against the Liferay 7.4 APIs, and Spring Boot services carry the business logic behind them. PostgreSQL is the database, and GitHub holds the source. The Kaleo workflow definitions model the service request lifecycle, which is what gives the platform complete traceability of engagements without custom state-machine code.

Delivery infrastructure was part of the build: GitHub for source, SonarLint enforcing quality gates in the pipeline, and three environments with CI/CD so that what reaches production has already passed through staging unchanged. The same Liferay-plus-Spring-Boot shape underpins our Wego partner portal and the Bank of Baroda EWS, and it is our default for financial services platforms that need a DXP front and service-oriented logic behind it.
