Jyoti CNC Automation: an ERPNext v14 manufacturing ERP with QMS, traceability and production planning

A leading CNC machine tool manufacturer was scheduling production and managing quality on legacy on-premise systems with no real-time view of the floor. ATS deployed ERPNext v14 across planning, quality, inventory and warehousing, integrated with the company's CRM for order-to-delivery visibility.

The challenge

No real-time view of the floor

Jyoti CNC Automation builds CNC machine tools — complex, multi-level assemblies where a scheduling conflict or a quality escape is expensive. Its legacy on-premise systems could not show production in real time. The results were predictable: scheduling conflicts between production orders, gaps in quality traceability when a component's history was needed, and excess inventory held as insurance against both.

The company needed to modernise production planning, quality management and inventory control together, because the three problems fed each other. A manufacturing ERP that could plan against real capacity, inspect in process, trace every batch and serial number, and manage warehouses accurately would address all three — and it had to connect to the CRM the sales team already used. ATS delivered it as an ERPNext implementation on version 14.

ATS deployed ERPNext's manufacturing module as the production backbone: Bills of Materials for the machine assemblies, Work Centres and Routings that describe real capacity, and Production Order planning and scheduling against it, so orders are sequenced on what the floor can actually do. Quality management was built in rather than bolted on — Quality Inspection plans for in-process and finished goods, with inspection results recorded against the production order.

Batch and serial number traceability was switched on across the flow, so any finished machine can be traced back to the batches and serials that went into it. Warehouse management runs on barcode scanning for receipts, moves and issues, with automated reorder point management to stop inventory drifting up. A reporting layer gives production managers live efficiency KPIs, and the CRM integration links customer orders to production status for end-to-end order-to-delivery visibility.

Architecture

ERPNext v14 manufacturing and QMS, integrated with CRM over REST

The system is ERPNext v14 on the Frappe Framework — Python on MariaDB — using the standard Manufacturing and Quality modules configured for the company's products and processes, so upgrades stay straightforward. Barcode scanning runs through ERPNext's warehouse functions. The production-KPI reporting layer is built as Frappe reports and dashboards over the same transactional data, which is why it is live rather than periodically compiled.

The CRM integration uses REST APIs to pass customer orders into ERPNext and production status back, giving sales and production one view of each order. That combination — standard modules configured carefully, extended only where the business needs it — is how we approach every ERPNext implementation, and the reporting layer is an example of the kind of extension our custom Frappe development adds on top.
