Why this project mattered
PodEngine, an established web-based podcast streaming platform, needed to extend its reach to mobile audiences who expected native-quality audio streaming experiences. The challenge was to expose the full platform functionality — custom radio station creation, playlist management, podcast discovery, and Braintree-powered paid subscriptions — in a Flutter mobile app integrated with the existing Liferay backend.

ATS built the PodEngine Flutter mobile application integrating deeply with the existing Liferay 6.2 REST API backend. The app delivered a highly engaging audio experience with a persistent mini-player (audio continues while browsing), custom radio station builder with drag-and-drop playlist management, RSS-fed podcast discovery with intelligent categorisation, and seamless Braintree in-app payment for premium content subscriptions. Background audio playback, lock screen media controls, and offline queue management were implemented for a truly native-quality experience.
